The Passing of Mr Needles

Anton Von Stefan's first Gothic Horror Story!

What I am about to relate, I offer with a most urgent and prominent desire: I wish to rid myself of guilt.

It is without question that, under the written law, no indictable crime was actually committed. No books of reference nor of ordinance are to be found upon the subject. However, that an injurious act was unequivocally and irrevocably perpetrated upon the well-being of another shall become evident on the reader’s effectuation of this work. Through the rendition of this gruesome tale, I hope to attain absolution, to rid myself of that recurring dream, that apparition, that nightmare which haunts me still and allows me no sleep.

       This is my story:

I have spent a great part of my life in the study of the spiritual, the supernatural. To be more precise, I became an expert in the phenomena of hauntings and ghostly visitations, their probabilities, and their surroundings. I have explored countless locations and regions where the paranormal was said to be rampant. After more than two decades specializing in this one peculiar and most thought-provoking subject, I began to formulate a theory.

My hypothesis was not the result of a single mind-opening revelation but came about gradually. It was the result of actual experiences, both my own and by persons I have had the good fortune to meet. Whereas my own faculties I had no reason to doubt, I did have recourse to be sceptical concerning the tales related by others. Thus, as I probed those narratives, it was critical that I be scholastic in my research. Comprehensive systematic investigations were carried out repeatedly so that I was satisfied that a supernatural occurrence had transpired and had been observed as related.
